Coconut Macaroons

I been looking thorough my baking cookbook ,try to get some idea how to make cookies that taste and look like cookies!!You know what I mean??...As you know my baking skill is so- so or you can call it bad in some way....hehehe !!.Anyway,I participated in cookies exchange for this Christmas,so now I have to practise and get some idea how and what to bake..Ok..I found Coconut Macaroon recipe in my AllRecipes cookbook.Actually ,I saw bigboysoven bake Christmas Macaroons ,that where my idea come from..Of course, mine cannot compare with Sunny "sifu" skill and talent but at least I give a try la.It's really simple and easy...mine version not his !! hahaha!!
2(7oz) packages sweet flaked coconut(5 1/2 cup)
1 (14 oz) Can Condensed Milk(just use 7 oz)
1 egg white
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 1/2 tsp almond extract
Preheat oven to 325 F.Line baking sheets with foil,grease foil .Set aside.
In a large bowl,combine coconut,condensed milk egg white,vanilla and almond extract:mix well.Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto the prepare baking sheets.
Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes or until lightly browned around edges.Immediately remove from baking sheets:cool on wire racks.Store loosely covered at room temperature.Yield to 4 dozon.

I found this recipe used whole can (14 oz) condensed is too sweet,even hubby who love sweet ,can't take it.I have to reduced condensed milk to half or use unsweeted coconut flake.But mostly coconut flake for baking don't come unsweetened.Overall,this coconut macaroon is good but I don't think it's suitable for cookies exchange.I mean it will easily break when shipping by postal.So I have to keep looking for better recipe..

Oh... I hear this coconut maroons are lovely and it is an american cookies. I think there are more hawaiian....hehehehehe! lovely!

I prefer the French Macaroons than this one :) The one BBO baked are the French one.

yes,me too french macaroon look elegant...but I never try b4...hmmmm....t'morrow going to food shopping,try to look for one..
