Whole Wheat Shell Pasta with Tuna

I think these days alot of people (especially home cook mom or dad) prefer to use whole wheat pasta instead of regular pasta. One thing I can be sure that they want to practise healthy eating habit now .When I was food shopping at local market over the weekend,I saw whole wheat pasta on sale.Of course I have to grab few boxes of different shape pasta since the price is consider good deal..So what should I do with all the whole wheat pasta? Eliot not really keen to eat whole wheat pasta but I still try to feed him healthier version of pasta..He complaint but still have to eat it..I guess some people not use to the texture and taste of whole wheat pasta yet!! Well,at least we should try to eat healthy now or else too late.... our life is priceless, right?

Ingredients:
1/2 box medium shell pasta, about 1/2 lb.Cook accordingly to the instruction on the back of the box..(al-denta)
3 cans (6 oz)of Albacore tuna(prefer in water not oil)remove water
4 tbsp mayonnaise, plus extra if too dry (low fat version)
salt and ground pepper to taste
2 tbsp Parmesan grated cheese

Method:

1:Remove cooked pasta to collard.Run pasta under cold water for 1 minute .Prepare a medium large bowl with mayonnaise,Parmesan grated cheese ,tuna, salt and pepper, mix well.
2:Add in cold pasta, toss well with mayonnaise mixture..Chill pasta in fridge before serve cold as appetizer or salad.

Yes, today people are getting more health conscious and prefer to eat food that are healthier for them. I have a mixed of whole wheat pasta and plain pasta, because sometimes I used pasta in my curry mee and I prefer it yellow instead of brown. LOL!

Looks great, reminds me of a dinner my mom used to make! For the tuna, to add even a healthier dose to this use sustainable albacore, such as cans from Wild Planet Foods. Because of the sourcing on their tuna it is lower in Mercury and higher in Omega 3s as compared to the big national brands. I'm looking forward to your future posts!

Due to the taste, whole wheat pasta goes well with a strong-flavored sauce. So I believe Aglio Olio with whole wheat pasta should taste funny? Tomato, cream, or even mayo shd be fine. I buy mainly whole wheat pasta now. And do you know that other than plain and whole wheat, there are also brown rice and quinoa pasta! :)

I agree that choosing wheat pasta is the healthier choice but mayo is not healthy at all. Should suggest light mayo if you suggest mayo at all.

This recipe reminds me one created with my own imagination. I call it Tuna with pasta, the difference between yours and mine is that I prefer to use more tuna than pasta and you do the opposite.
