New England Clam Chowder

Recently I bought a pound of shell off clam from Chinatown at frozen section. Well, fresh clam is more expensive than prepacked frozen clam and it's taste better too. Anyway I plan to use it to make New England Clam Chowder ,so it's doesn't really matter.I also mixed with a can of chopped clam and it's taste great! By the way , I adapted this recipe from Allrecipe. This hot ,creamy and hearty soup will warm you up on cold winter days!!


Ingredients:


1/2 lb frozen shell off clam


1 can chopped clam in juice (6.5g)


2 cup whole milk


1 cup half and half


3 cup water


5 stripe cooked bacon (chopped)


1 large onion (chopped diced)


5 large Idaho potatoes(peel and diced)


1/2 stick butter


ground black pepper and salt to taste


Garnishing:


chopped cilantro







Method:


1: Peel and cut potatoes,boil in 3 cup water at high heat in a medium stock pot for 10-20 minutes or until softened,fork tender,then add in butter,half and half and whole milk into stock pot.


2: Reduced heat to medium,add in clam and juice,chopped clam, onion,bacon and seasoning.Bring it to boil, then immediately shut off the heat .


3:Check seasoning and serve warm with salted cookies.
