Sauteed Mix Vegetables with Oyster Sauce

Last week my almost 4 year old daughter,Mishu visit her pediatrician for well visit( annual check-up) required by law coz she going to preschool.I was warned by her pediatrician to watch her weight coz she has gained 20 lbs in a year. Mostly American children hate or refused to eat vegetables .I guess I can encourage her to start eating right at early age.As the said parents play the most important parts in children life. After the doctor visit I quickly drop by at our local farm market to get some vegetables.I try to make something interesting for her.At last I come up with Sauteed Mix Vegetables with Oyster Sauce,it's quick and easy to prepare! This dish can be whipped up in less than 15 minutes!

Ingredients:

1/2 head small cabbage (cut and wash)

1/2 lb snow peas ( cut the tip of each snow pea and pull out the tough string that runs along its side)

1 medium carrot (peel and sliced)

1 small bell pepper( cut cube)

1 large onion(peel and cut cube)

2 clove garlic (peel and minced)

1 tbsp oyster sauce

1 tsp chicken bouillon powder

1 tbsp cooking oil

Method:

1: Wash and cut vegetables accordingly, drain set aside.

2:Prepare skillet or wok at high heat, add in oil and garlic, fry until fragrant or brown, quickly add in all the cut vegetables and seasoning.Stir-fry for 1 minutes or less ,removed for heat and dish out immediately.Do not over cooked vegetables.

3:Check the taste and serve warm with rice or pasta.

Note:

If you prefer softer version vegetables texture, you can add in 2 tbsp water and cook 5 more extra minutes.I was amazed my daughter pick up some snow peas but not others vegetables,well...that good enough for now.I will let her try broccoli next.If you have children who not vegetables friendly, maybe you can try this dish for them.

This is a good start meal for Mishu to not gaining so much. Did she love it? Even if she gain, just be happy that she is healthy and active. I really like this meal. I can eat one whole plate just like that. Yummy!

My kids learned to eat vegetables early, too! You just have to serve it more often :)

I don't remember when I started to eat vegs.. probably since I was pretty young. I think my mom tries to make me and my siblings not to be picky and eat whatever that she cooks.
I am sure Mishu will learn to eat vegs. Did she like this dish?
Another trick is to put her fav one of her fav ingredients in this dish if she refuses? That way, maybe she will try to eat vegs.
By the way, I left you an email.!

I might have the opposite comment from my elder daughter pediatrician because I think she is too skinny for her age. She is almost 5 and she only weights 36 pounds. Everytime we have to force her to finish her meal, she did finish her meal but probably take an hour or more, but she is still very skinny!

LCOM:
oh! mine! she 5 just weight 36 lbs!! Mine going is going to be 4 end of this month and she weight 65 lbs! I think Mishu is not a picky eater, that the problem, why she gained so much weight!! she don't eat cake or cookies but love candy and ice cream!! she also love pasta, rice and meat! I have to cut down on her eating portion. And feed her more on fruits and veggies coz she keep telling me she hungry!

I didn't blend veggie with chok for my son. Instead, I showed and taught him how to feel and taste each type of veggie (puree/chopped) he ate before stirring it into his chok. Of course, toddlers will become choosy but it is up to the parents to be creative to "convince & confuse" their kid to accept veggie in a fun way. A challenging task right? Hehehe! ;)
