Five Spice Powder Bar B Que Ribs

Summer is around the corner.Usually sweet corn and ribs always on sale at this time.Elliot like his ribs baked in oven instead of grilling on our charcoal grill.I guess it's also easy for me too, don't have to stand over the BBQ pit and keep watching the meat ,afraid of getting burn.As usual,I have to wrapped the whole rib with aluminium foil and fill the deep tray with some water first before baking in the oven. It's make the ribs more juicy, soft and tender.

Ingredients:

I rack whole ribs

2 tbsp Five Spice Powder (5 Heong Fan)

1/2 cup sugar

1 tbsp sea salt

*marinate all the above seasoning overnight or 5 hours before baking)*

Method:
1: I like to slit here and there on the meat lightly with a sharp knife for the seasoning to penetrated well into the ribs.Rubs the seasoning on the ribs evenly and wrapped up with aluminium before putting away in the fridge overnight.

2:Preheat oven at 350 F.Use a deep tray and fill enough water underneath the wrapped ribs.Baked ribs for 3 hours .

3:Open the aluminum on the top and brush ribs with some BBQ sauce, set oven to Broil at 375 F .Broil the ribs for 20-30 minutes.

4:While the ribs in baking process,I also bake the sweet corn in the second rack.Fill some water in a deep tray with sweet corn.Bake for 2 hours and ready to serve with 5 spice powder ribs.Elliot love this method of baking ribs, and he don't mind at all 5 spices powder flavour.I guess baking and stewing 5 spices powder with meat are big different in flavouring.Maybe baking long process overtaking the strong flavour 5 spices powder.

Note:

By wrapping up ribs with aluminium foil when baking tend to preserved the flavour and moisture of the meat.I prefer to add water in deep tray for 2 reasons:One of the reason I found the meat is more juicy and soft.Secondly,I hate to scrub the burn and dry tray!!.

Don't worried about the 5 spices powder strong flavour,my America's hubby who not a fan of Chinese food love this flavour ribs!
